Dr. Naomi Ennis
Clinical Psychologist and Founder
PhD, C. Psych
My name is Naomi and I am a clinical psychologist licensed to practice in Ontario, Canada. I am passionate about providing empathic, client-centered, evidence-based care to adults and couples. I work with adults with a range of concerns such as trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety (e.g., social anxiety, panic attacks, health worries) and mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and issues of self-esteem, life transitions, and emotion regulation difficulties. I also provide couples-therapy to couples experiencing issues such as difficulties with communication, infidelity, differences in values, and high conflict. My approach is to meet clients where they are at and work collaboratively with them to understand their goals and what matters to them. I use evidence-based strategies to help clients navigate painful emotions and ultimately work towards living a full and meaningul life. My practice is anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirmative, and trauma-informed. With individuals, I primarily practice cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. With couples, I primarily provide emotion focused therapy (EFT) and integrative behavioural couple therapy.
I completed my Masters and Doctoral degrees at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). For my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship, I trained at the Medical University of South Carolina within the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center. Outside of my private practice, I serve as the Regional Clinical and Training lead for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy program (OSP) in Brampton, Halton, and Mississauga. OSP is an innovative, publicly-funded mental health program for adults with low mood and anxiety-related concerns. In this role, I primarily provide clinical leadership, training and consultation to mental health therapists in the delivery of CBT.
In addition to clinical work, I am passionate about conducting clinical research that improves our understanding of mental health and access to treatments. My research is particularly focused on posttraumatic stress and trauma recovery.
